Damn Scanner!

My damn scanner is dying! With my latest painting, I noticed when I scanned it that there is a vertical stripe that runs along the side of the scan. Fortunately, I managed to get it scanned alright by setting the painting to the right of where the stripe usually appears, but that basically cuts a third of my scanner bed off. I don't what to have to do that every time, so I'm afraid that I'm going to have to buy a new scanner. This is the same thing that forced me to buy a new one the last time. I think I've had this scanner for 4 or 5 years, but I have used it a lot! And of course this had to happen the same week that I had to pay nearly $300 for new eyeglasses and contacts. Nice. :(

I´m sorry to hear, dear Rebecca. If there wouldn´t be a whole ocean between us, I would send you mine. But I´m not sure if it would survive the long way. It´s fairly new and I didn´t use it often, maybe ten times. I have no idea what a scanner costs, but I know all that stuff is expensive.
Wow, that´s much for new glasses, but then, I think here it´s almost the same price. :-(
Keep my fingers crossed you´ll find a cheap and good scanner soon!

Aw, thanks, Bianca! That's sweet! :) I've got my eyes one or two that aren't too bad. Both are Canons like my old one, but newer and better models. I just don't know which one I want to go with yet. One is about $40 more than the other. I just wish this didn't happen at the same time when I already had to let go of so much money!

It's actually a pretty good deal for glasses, since the eye exam was included and I get two pairs. :)

it sucks when all expenses come together..i know the feeling you need a scanner and i need a new pc :(
it will die or explode on me any day now.

Last year i got for my b-day an epson scanner it turned out ok and it's very roomy it can actually fit a 9x12 almost..i was looking for the mustang(?) dawn had suggested to me, which scans 11x14 but at the time i couldn't find it it was sold out-are you looking for a big scanner or regular one?

i didnt realize glasses cost so much!!

You´re welcome dear Rebecca. :-)
Oh, I have a canon, too, it works fine, I think they aren´t bad. Wow, more then 40$, that´s a lot of money for a scanner!
I know that problem, if somethings goes wrong, everything else will go wrong, too. And always it´s a lot of money you have to pay.
I keep my fingers crossed you´ll get a new one, soon.

I have no idea how much for glasses, I should get some for myself, but I´m too vain to wear glasses. *blush*

I ordered a new scanner. It should be delivered on Tuesday. ;)

I got fitted for contacts today. I have to wear them for a week to see what I think of them. I've had them in for a few hours. They seem alright so far. I'm getting used to them. :) I get my glasses on Monday.

I got the contacts mainly because I don't really like wearing glassed all the time. The reflections on the lenses bother me sometimes. But of course it is nice not to have to wear glasses for vanity reasons too. I got my first glasses about 8 years ago, but I honestly didn't start wearing them on a regular basis until maybe 2-3 years ago. (that's probably why I need a stronger prescription now, lol) But vain or not, I need something so I can see better. :)

Katerina, That really sucks that you need a new pc! Those can be really expensive. I ordered a new scanner, but it is a regular size one. The larger ones were too expensive right now. But I still got a better model than the one that just broke. And it's another Canon. I like the one that I had, and this new one got pretty good reviews. :)

That was for 2 pairs of glasses. And what they don't tell you is that you have to buy the lenses separately. So it adds up. I'm also getting contacts, which I hope I'll like enough to wear the majority of the time. :)
